Join us for RACE TALKS Movies + Conversations on August 8th to commemorate Black August, an annual event that highlights political prisoners. The Day of the Gun documentary revisits the events leading up to the death of George Jackson in 1971, an incarcerated leader of Black liberation in the 1960s-70s. Featured community host Amber Boydston of Spirited Justice will lead audience discussion after the film, examining this issue through an abolitionist eye and exploring questions of whether Black freedom is attainable while prisons exist.
