DESCRIPTION:This year\, we are celebrating local LIVING ICONS: Portlanders who have made significant contributions to racial justice through their contributions to the arts\, culture\, and music. These Icons have embodied excellence over decades\, and have left an indelible mark on our community and culture. \nThis is a four-part series and fundraiser for RACE TALKS.  Each evening of the four-part series will honor two LIVING ICONS\, who through their work and community contributions and activism\, have a shared history and relationship. We will listen to our Icons’ inspiring stories while we enjoy a sumptuous dinner\, intimate conversation\, and musical performances. Our series theme is “OPULENT JOY: Filling Our Cracks with Gold.” \nMarch 14th LIVING ICONS\nPAUL KNAULS\, SR.\nThe Mayor of Northeast Portland & Owner of The Cotton Club and Geneva’s\n\nNORMAN SYLVESTER\nThe Original Northwest “Boogie Cat” and 2011 Oregon Music Hall of Fame Inductee\nWe have planned this series as intimate dinner parties between close friends; seating is limited.

There will be an introduction before the movie starts and a Q&A discussion to follow. \n5:30pm doors\, 6:15pm intro\, 6:30pm movie start$5 adults\, $3 kids 12 and underMinor with parent or guardian \nAbout The Wiz \nWhen Harlem schoolteacher Dorothy (Diana Ross) tries to save her dog from a storm\, she’s miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz. After accidentally killing the Wicked Witch of the East upon her arrival\, Dorothy is told about the Wiz (Richard Pryor)\, a wizard who can help her get back to Manhattan. As Dorothy goes in search of the Wiz\, she’s joined by the Scarecrow (Michael Jackson)\, the Tin Man (Nipsey Russell) and the Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross).
